Vaquita
Vaquitas are a small species of porpoise that was discovered in 1958. They swim the waters of mexico's Gulf of California. Vaquitas have distinctive dark rings around its eyes and a dark patch around its mouth. There are very few of them remaining and are hard to study because they swim away when boats approach. On top of their outstanding shyness, there are only 30 individuals left in the wild, making them nearly impossible to find. Bycatch is a huge factor in these rare creatures' disappearance, and if nothing is done soon, we won't be able to reverse the consequences.
